A Truly Go Blue London Trip!
21st March – 25th March 2011, LONDON, ENGLAND – It was a moment of pure excitement for Ramesh Ramakhrisnan from Malaysia and Jackson Lee from Singapore as they touched down at the London Heathrow Airport in an all-expenses paid trip to visit the Chelsea Football Club at Stamford Bridge, London.
Being a football fan both virtually and on the field, these boys have clearly earned their rights to experience a truly Go Blue – London Trip, by being the highest achievers in the EA SPORTS™ FIFA Online 2: Go Blue London 2012 promotion. Experiencing for the first time a taste in English premier league’s top flight football, Ramesh and Jackson were treated to a prestigious tour at the Chelsea FC Training Ground at Stamford Bridge – where they met their favourite players for autography and photo sessions.
“This trip has really been a dream comes true, and I owe it all to EA, IAHGames and SMM for organizing this magnificent trip. I thought that the closest I could get to the players was from playing FIFA Online 2 – but now, my Facebook page is filled with photos of me with Daniel Sturridge, John Terry, and even the new coach, Roberto Di Matteo, one of Chelsea’s Legends,” said Ramesh Ramakhrisnan from Malaysia – also known as Ramesh in FIFA Online 2.
But it was the feel of real-live football that really got their blood pumping with excitement. “Watching Chelsea play live is what football is all about. Seeing the players up-front from our front row seats still sends shivers down my spine every time I think about it.” laughs Jackson Lee, a FIFA Online 2 lover from Singapore.
The boys were also invited to a London Panoramic Tour, visiting the many major landmarks and sights of both the City and the West End of London. “Everybody had a great time there. Seeing the lads happy clearly puts us organizers on the right track towards rewarding our players with the opportunity of a life-time”, said Mr. T.T Lim, SMM. A NEW CHAMPION IS CROWNED AT THE 2011' GRAND FINALS!
2nd - 4th December 2011, KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA – The exhibition hall of Mid Valley Megamall was abuzz with immense thrills and euphoric passion as the Grand Final phase for the SMM Grand National DotA Tournament & One Asia Cup commences in flamboyant magnitude.
Filling the hallway and spanning far and wide were the inaugural grand platform that formed the helm of competitive combat with giant LED screens pulsating surreally for the viewing audience – courtesy of AOC’s (Art of Colors) aesthetic brilliance.
Virtuoso teams very well respected in their trade of combat formed the pinnacle of e-Sports as powerhouses from DotA, FIFA Online 2, and Counter-Strike Online instantly made their presence felt – giving a grand treat to all fans hoping to catch their idols competing up on-stage live.
Team Mineski-DotA from the Philippines proved what a goliath they truly are – slaying everything in their path to reach the top three at the SMM Grand National DotA Tournament: Grand Finals – giving everyone a run for their money before finally tumbling heroically at the hands of Team Nirvana.CN from China.
Team DK, the Chinese powerhouse which previously proved unbeatable at recent tournaments ended their winning streak as they felled prey to defeat by the hands of Invictus Gaming who, with brimming confidence and fortitude – proceeded into the inaugural Grand Finals and defeated 1st Runner-Up, Team Nirvana CN to clinch champion.
On the other side of the turf, King Thai Bao of FIFA Online 2 from Vietnam comfortably booked a place in the final showdown against his compatriot, King Tanh – as both players displayed to all on the virtual field why they truly deserved the One Asia Cup – with King Thai Bao slotting home a clinical finish to calmly clinch the gold medal, marching on proudly to represent Vietnam as the FIFA Online 2: One Asia Cup 2011 Champion.
At vintage point, Team Rage Faction of Counter-Strike Online fame from Singapore rises yet again to the top of the rubble as guns are set ablaze to settle the impending conflict between Counter-Terrorist and Terrorist. After a dusty battle of tug and pull between two very talented teams, the grit and determination of Team Rage Faction made the debacle over Team Auf Gehts from Malaysia as the Singaporeans rode their wave of consistency all the way to the top – taking over the hot seat to emerge as the Counter-Strike Online: One Asia Cup 2011 Champions.
Finally, we would like to wish our huge congratulations and esteemed support to Team G7 of DotA from Myanmar upon successfully making it into our TOP 16, here at the SMM Grand National DotA Tournament 2011: Grand Finals – thus, fulfilling with success the benign requirements set by the Myanmar Government. Toby 'Tobi Wan' Dawson, a lovable fan-favourite icon in the shout-casting scene will be making his appearance at the SMM Grand National DotA Tournament: Grand Finals 2011’ to bring professional DotA shout-casting to the next level. Contrary to popular believe, Toby has been commentating for just over 4 years now, starting as a Call of Duty commentator in Australia and then entering the world of DotA for the first time at the WCG Asian Championship 2007 in Singapore. Since then, Toby has commentated at LAN events in 6 different countries appearing at Dreamhack, The International, WCG, and SMM just to name a few. Toby is by far, currently the most experienced DotA commentator in the world – gaining recognition for his terrific commentaries and charismatic unrelenting performances.
